SUNDAY WEAR;28TH AUGUST 2016.

Hello everyone.
It's been like three weeks since my last post. Hope everyone's being having a wonderful time.
My post today is about my black and white cold shoulder shift Dress.  I made it during the week and I had An option of this dress or another. But chose this because this Sunday we were to wear green or white. The second Dress will be worn soon.
I also made an ombre Dress for lily. Yep! She's caught the dress bug. She keeps asking me about dresses for her and she has a description for what she wants.
This is lily and she's a fashion conscious little girl.
Photo credit is by my son so a little goofiness was expected.
We rocked this outfits well I think.
The shoulder of the dress had star studs. Three on each shoulder.
So, have a lovely week everyone. X.O.X.O

PINK AND BLACK. COLOUR CORDINATING WITH MY GIRLS!

Hello every one.
Hope we all had a great weekend. I know I did;mostly because of church. It's always a good thing to fellowship because we get new insights into God's holy word.
So for today's post I wore a pink and black faux wrap dress. It had turn up sleeves and it was maxi. For Bella, I made her a pink Dress and a jacket which she's not wearing in the pic. Maybe on another Outting and lily is wearing a black dress with a jacket I made using black with white Zip zag pattern all over it.
Yeah, bella is a tough cookie to get her to take pictures. You hear a lot of 'bella see'.lol
This is the only pic I got of me solo. So...there!
Here's a pic of the kids dresses.

I have  to end this post with a part of the message from my service yesterday. Whatever you are today(the person you are now)is as a result of words you've spoken. You are the one that shapes your life. We have to realize that our words are powerful. The bible says life and death are in the power of the tongue. Please speak good so you can get good. Have a lovely week y'all

THE CAPE DRESS AND THE WRAP DRESS OUTTINGS.

Hello everyone.
Hope we've all had a great week
I've just been lazy to put these posts up;hence the two in one post.
Well, this are the 2 dresses I made for me in the past 2 weeks.
Any questions about how I arrive at this outfits are always welcome.
For the first outfit, I made a cape dress. Using a stretchy fabric. So the dress wasn't lined. It had a long zipper at the back that extended down to the length of the dress.
I loved the way the Cape draped over it like a big scarf.
The outfit had a touch of pink so I accentuated that color with the pink bag
F
and pink zipper.
For my second Dress it was a wrap dress. I live wrap dresses. This was made from stretchy Silk. It was a combination of dull pink and black. The sleeves were long but not reaching my wrists.
It was longer at the back and shorter at the front.
It's flared from the waist downwards.
That's all for this week. Thanks for stopping by. X.O.X.O

WHITE COLLAR DRESS

Hello everyone,
Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays. I know I am.
I missed a post last week and this week's post is delayed. My apologies.
For what I wore to church this week, I made a dress using ankara and then added white details on it using a plain white cotton fabric for the collar and then a white cord trimming for the sleeve and dress hem.
It was a simple yet nice Dress.
Service in church too was great. We had a hosanna service and the music was awesome with great music artist performances. You know, when you're in God's presence and you're reminded once again about the fact that he's always there! Sometimes we forget that fact and try to resolve things with our own ability, we think we have to figure it out all by ourselves. But there is a better way, laying it all on him and trusting that like he promised when he said we should come heavy laden and he will give us rest.
So I go into this week trusting the fact that he will provide, he will protect,he will shield, promote, guide and the fact that he has got the week figured out for me. I hope everyone has a beautiful week. X.O.X.O

MY SUNDAY WEAR JUNE 19 2016

Hello everyone,
For church today, I decided to make an asymmetrical skirt using ankara.it was then stoned with multi colored stones.
For the blouse I wore with it, i knew i either wanted a crop top because I wanted to make the skirt high waisted, so wearing the crop top over the skirt would still be appropriate for church or the other option was an off the shoulder blouse. But after making both I went for the cropped blouse with cut outs.

I wore a white head Scarf because we had a celebration for my Deaconess that required my group to either wear a silver or grey Scarf. This I must confess is the first Scarf I've tied by myself with help from YouTube.
In this picture I think I was yelling for my daughter Bella who was almost out of the gate cos mommy was taking pictures. Lol
I think the whole look came together nicely. My opinion though. Have a lovely weekend everyone.

MY SUNDAY WEAR.JUNE 12,2016

Hello everyone, hope we all had a beautiful Sunday. I had a blessed one.
On today's outfit, I decided to make a straight Dress using a red cord lace. I was supposed to line it with a black fabric they call 'duchess' but I had this royal blue duchess fabric lying next to the black and when I placed the red over the both of them(the black and the blue) I preferred the combination with the blue.

But classic me,i decided to seek the opinions of some of the people that work with me and the reaction from the combination with blue was far better than with the black so blue was in and black was out.
I started cutting the dress by Saturday afternoon. I made the blue appear as a longer hem on the dress and also used it to tape the neck of the dress.
The blue fabric was also used as a demarcation at the back. About 10 inches apart.

The sleeves were made with the cord lace. The dress had a princess dart at the front and a straight dart at the back.
Please ignore the background. After church we were waiting in the car at some place we decided to stop for a minutes. That's where I took the pictures. I always feel awkward taking pictures where people can see, so I chose a really secluded area to take them.

I hope you like the look. Feel free to comment. Have a lovely week.

MY SUNDAY WEAR. JUNE 5th 2016.

Hello every one. Hope everyone had a beautiful Sunday. I know I did.

Sometimes we get a lot from the pastors ministrations, sometimes from people's testimonies, from songs, from presentations made during service. That is why it's important to be in church so you can stir up your faith.

So for this Sunday , I made a wrap dress. With a cape-like sleeve. The wrap dress was flared and full length. The fabric i used was sheer.
I decided to use the sheer fabric(it was an organza fabric with floral designs on it) because I wanted to be able to alternate the colors of the inner wear. I used a red inner wear for it today after struggling with the decision to use red or black.
I then used a black embellishment on the overlaying wrap.
some of the  pictures of the look are below.

The wrap dress can be available in any color on order.

Communion service day

Every first Sunday of the month is communion service in Christ embassy. This is my look for the service for the month of June. While I post on it,i must also share on the beautiful service. I can't explain it,i was excited in today's service.

I serve a dependable God who is bigger than the biggest, stronger than the strongest, higher than the highest. At the center of it all,its you lord that I see. There is power in your name. Miracles happen in your name. As we lift our voice in praise, its you that I see. The steadfast love of Christ never seizes.

They are new every morning. Great is the faithfulness of God. We've got to learn to trust in the ability that God has seen that situation before hand and has put in place plans to take care of it. When we are in the challenge it may be hard to focus on God's ability but we have to fight to take control of our mind and declare that the devil, the accuser of the brethren, the one who allows you to see excuses instead of an answer can not win over you. God is the one that opens every door,he makes the lame to walk, the blind eyes see, he gives us victory. Alpha and omega I will worship and serve you every day. It's in your prescence I'm in my happy place. This world is too cold. Less of me and more of you lord. The praises in this communion service had so many messages that it was a sermon on its own. I love the ministry i'm under. Thanks pastor Chris and Eben for the wonderful songs
This trouser set is by me. It's really comfortable and easy to wear. It's available for anyone interested .

MY SUNDAY WEAR .MAY 1ST

Hello guys,as promised i'm here with the post of the week.
On Saturday I was opportuned to get this really lovely earthy fabric. I call it 'earthy fabric' because the design on it are pictures of leaves, logs of wood and the color was a dull green. I was in love with it. So while working at home on a project I'm planning to take on in a bit,I kept brainstorming what style to make that would really showcase the fabric designs really well and I knew a kaftan was the best bet. I had another plain crepe fabric somewhere in my stash of fabrics that matched it .
I had seen this style on social media several times. I'm sure most of you have so I edited my version a bit with a patterned and plain fabric. Then the sleeves had a turn up with the patterned fabric. Below are some of the pictures I took . Hope you like it cos I did. X.O.X.O

LILYS REQUEST!

Hello everyone
It's been a while i made a post. I keep promising to make more frequent posts but ... It doesn't seem to happen.
I want to try to make it a post a week. I hope I can do that.
Anyway, this post was inspired by Lily. My 5year old daughter. She requested for a dress with a jacket and I was excited to do this for her.
Most times when I sew ,it's because my interest was sparked with curiosity on making a particular vision I've created in my head about a finished work and i become moved by my ideas I would like to see manifest.

For her dress i used black cotton fabric and Ghana fabric called Kente.
Unfortunately,i didn't document the process but it's an easy dress.
When I was done with the dress and was fitting it on Lily she was like mommy it's nice but I want a dress and a jacket. I had to reassure her the jacket was next.
When i finished the jacket ,it looked too plane so I decided to make a flower using colorful stones. She loved her dress. I also did. Here are a few pictures I took after church.

Peplum top with a bustier empire cut

Hello everyone. This introduction to this blog is going to reveal the steps i took to make each outfit.
For this first post, I made this peplum top for a customer. It had a bustier in the upper half cut (empire)

It's a pity I didn't snap the step before I cut the bustier to get this. But this is the result. The wine red part is the lining . it shows how I folded to get the second fabric in the pic.
I measured the bust apart (nipple to nipple)and used it to get the horizontal line.

To get the length of the bustier I took the underbust length and subtracted 7 inches from the top.
Then used the bust point measurement to get a line  which is not visible in this pic.
Those gaps at the top and bottom of the lining are 2 " for up and 2" for below.

 This is the back
Both lining and fabric.
This is the peplum. It's a 2 step peplum so I cut one 10 inches and the second 8 inches. The important thing to note is the peplum wehn added to the upper part of the blouse gives the desired blouse length.
There 2 pieces of cloths in this picture. The fist is what i inspected into the bustier to get the full front and the second is the band from under the bust to which the peplum will be attached

This is the final result. One happy looking customer.
